Visit to the University of Alicante

Within the Tempus project WBCInno “MODERNIZATION OF WBC UNIVERSITIES THROUGH STRENGTHENING OF STRUCTURES AND SERVICES FOR KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER, RESEARCH AND INNOVATION” (530213-TEMPUS-1-2012-1-RS-TEMPUS-JPHES), members of EIC UNZE (Prof. Dr Darko Petković, Prof. Dr Malik ÄŒabaravdić, Senior Assistant Mirza Oruč, MA and Lamija Subašić) visited the Faculty of health sciences of the University of Alicante (UA) in Spain.

Our hosts (mag. Isabel Sospedra Lopez, Isabel Aurora, Carmen Ruiz Solano, Diana Gil González, Prof. Maria Jose Cabanero, Prof. Miguel Richart and Eva Maria Bravo Gabaldon) presented us the most important parts of the Faculty and many innovative solutions of this renowned University, which are applied in the education rooms for students’ training. This was a great opportunity to discuss potential mobility programs of staff and students, joint project applications for Erasmus+ program and Horizon 2020, curriculums and their potentially new, updated versions, and as well, engagement of staff of the University of Alicante in a future PhD study program of the Faculty of health of UNZE.

On the second day of the visit to the University of Alicante (Spain), members of EIC UNZE (Prof. Dr Darko Petković, Prof. Dr Malik ÄŒabaravdić, Senior Assistant Mirza Oruč, MA and Lamija Subašić), together with the representatives of the Universiy of Banja Luka (UNBL), participated in the seminar on technology transfer and innovativeness for development of a entrepreneurially oriented University.

Speakers, Ms.Carolina Madeleiene, Ms. Lorena Moreno and Ms. Olga Frances, presented to the guests from Bosnia and Herzegovina: activities of the Project Office of the Universiy of Alicante, development of the Science Park Alicante and ways of establishing „spin-off“ and „spin-out“ companies and solutions which UA has implemented in its development mission.

These, high quality presentations gave valuable insights into various solutions and concepts that can be useful to HEIs in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Also, discussions about ideas for joint projects took place. Potentially, these projects could be done in the future, especially in the frame of Erasmus+ Program, by UNZE and UNBL, on the one side, and UA, on the other.

On the third day of the visit to the University of Alicante (Spain), members of EIC UNZE (Prof. Dr Darko Petković, Prof. Dr Malik ÄŒabaravdić, Senior Assistant Mirza Oruč, MA and Lamija Subašić) had a scheduled meeting with Prof. Dr Juan Llopis, Vice-rector of the University of Alicante.

After both Vice-rectors exchanged presents and gave short introductions of their institutions, they discussed about signing a Memorandum on understanding for cooperation between these, two, higher education institutions. But, even more important than this MoU, as Vice-rector Llopis pointed out, is the fact that these HEIs have already been working together for several years: from CUBRIK Project (QA development on the basis of BME evaluation from 6 years ago) to WBCInno Project and establishment of the Office for persons with special needs at UNZE). A new protocol, which is about to be signed very soon, will expand this cooperation and encompass the mobility programs of teaching staff and students.

After the meeting in the Rector’s Office of UA, team members of EIC UNZE had an afternoon meeting at the Faculty of Polytechnics of UA. They met with Dean Prof. Dr Andres Montoya Guijarro, and professors: Juan Garcia Rodriges and Daniel Ruiz Fernandez.

Dean Prof. Dr Montoya presented the Faculty of Polytechnics of UA and its study programs, and also, the potential ways for a future cooperation between UNZE and UA.

Prof. Petković gave an introduction about RDI potential of UNZE and other material resources that UNZE has at its disposal for this kind of international cooperation. Vice-rector Prof. Dr Čabaravdić has put a special emphasis on cooperation in the field of robotics, informatics and automatization.
